Stefanie Larson's Volleyball Student-Athlete Blog #7

The inevitable has happened…I am sick. I woke up with a sore throat on Friday and it’s only gotten worse from there. The weird thing is I played the best game of my Webster volleyball career that night. We had a double header at Principia; we played Greenville first then Prin.

As a team we had a good week last week. We played Spalding for the first time and won in four games, with a come-from-behind win after being down about seven or eight points. Overcoming those odds felt like Webster volleyball for the first time in a long time. Our week continued with two wins on Friday night and then two losses to non-conferences opponents, Central and Elmhurst on Saturday.

I already felt much weaker Saturday from being sick, and now I’m not really sure when I’ll have time to get better. Fall break is coming up but we’re spending most of it in Ohio for a tournament and getting better before we leave doesn’t seem likely. Actually, at practice Monday it seemed like we’d all kind of been hit by something. One girl didn’t come to practice and at least half of the girls who did show didn’t feel right in one way or another. Hopefully we can find a way to get better; we have three more conference games this week.

I’m excited to go back to Jacksonville to play MacMurray Tuesday because my family will be there again. Then, after our games on Saturday, I was invited to go to the company weenie roast from the internship I had this summer. I can’t wait to go to it!

My life should get a whole lot better this week. One of my writing classes is over on Wednesday night, my last deadline for the magazine is Tuesday and my second to last short fiction story was due last week. That only leaves me with one more really big paper to write for the semester. Whew!

Catch ya on the flip side,
