Jamie Hebron's Softball Student-Athlete Blog #10

I am sad to report that this will be one of my last posts. I will probably do another one next week and possibly the one following, but that will be the end. It is possible that this will be my last week of being a student-athlete, but I'm not ready to say goodbye, so I'll continue writing until school is over.

It's hard to believe it's May already, how time flies! Everything is starting to come to an end fast and it's taking me by surprise. There is a possibility that my last softball game will be on Thursday. It's a very difficult thing to think about. It's going to be really hard, not because I'll miss playing necessarily, but I'll miss having all these girls around me. It's going to be a big change that I foresee being very difficult.

School is the same way. It feels like I'm on a conveyor belt getting closer to the chopping machine and the closer I get, the faster it moves. I have so much to get done and so little time. For example, right now I should be preparing for a group presentation I have to help with in the morning, but instead I'm writing this blog. I can't believe I will be getting on a plane in 19 days where I will be living in another country for 6 weeks. So much is happening I'm really starting to feel overwhelmed. I keep telling myself I need to take one thing at a time, but it's difficult.

Senior night was last Thursday. It was a great night! I got a lot of very sweet cards from the team and a really awesome framed picture of the team. Our team pictures are in the middle and around the outside are little scrap booking pieces of dogs and paw prints, a medical clip board, syringes, a stethoscope, and a lab coat to represent me going to vet school. It was such a great idea and a perfect present! My sister also got me some flip flops I'd been wanting. Thanks sissy! Along with the presents and tons of pictures we also won two games and my whole family was there to watch. To my surprise I didn't cry either!

I would like to take a special time to notice one of the hardest working people on our team. I feel that my teammate Sara Mize deserves special recognition, especially this week, because she has made some SportsCenter Classic catches. There are some things that don't show up in the newspaper or stats that deserve recognition so I would like to name Sara Mize my personal player of the week for her hard work in the outfield.

Well, as porky pig puts it, "Dats all fowlks!" Have a blessed week. See you next Tuesday.

(about Jamie)

"Somewhere behind the athlete you've become, the hours of practice, the coaches who push you, the teammates who believe in you, and the fans who cheer for you is the little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back. Play for her!"
