Michael Horn's Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete Blog #6

The last week was a busy one with many events and meetings taking place. I had a Student Government Association (SGA) meeting on Wednesday, in which we came up with some plans for future events. We are holding a Get to Know SGA event as well as a Halloween costume party in the next few weeks. These should be exciting! I also had a Biological Sciences Organization meeting. We formed a team of students and faculty to work for an hour during World Food Day on Saturday, October 16. We are going to make meals for starving Africans who desperately need our help. It will be a great service project.

No classes met on Friday as it was an academic study day. We did run in the Principia Cowbell race on Friday evening. Both our men's team and women's team finished second behind Principia. I finished fourth individually in the meet. The meet was a good benchmark for where we stand in the conference. We are slightly behind where we want to be at this point, and the next three weeks will be crucial in training.

On Saturday, I went to the women's and men's soccer matches. The women were beat heftily by Greenville, 4-0. The men showed good form on the other hand. After relinquishing an early goal, they fought back hard and eventually equalized in the final ten minutes. Extra time proved to be of little significance as the match ended in a draw. Overall, it was a solid match. On Sunday I played in a golf tournament with my father. It was an excellent experience, and I enjoyed every minute of it even though we did not play very well. I was glad to spend some quality time with my father.
