Michael Horn's Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete Blog #7

Winston Churchill once said, "If you are going through hell, keep going".

That is exactly what I have been doing and it has paid off. The past week was awesome, full of action and excitement. Our Get-to-Know SGA Event went very well as I communicated with students about various issues on campus. I was also part of a Fontbonne commercial filmed on our campus last Wednesday. Most of the runners on our team were part of the scene as well.

On Thursday, I went to the seminary to celebrate an American version of Oktoberfest. There was authentic German beer, German food, and German football, or as the Americans call it, soccer. It was a wonderful evening of reflection and enjoyment with several people who are filled with the spirit of God and His love. I was fortunate to have been able to attend.

On Friday we met as a Student-Athlete Advisory Council and planned some exciting events, including Middle School Night, a dodgeball tournament, and events to better support the various teams. I played some football on Friday afternoon and had a blast. There was a comedy duo that came to Fontbonne on Friday night and performed various tricks and stunts that were entertaining. One of them juggled a bowling ball, a knife, and a toilet cleaner while standing on two skateboards stacked one on top of the other. It was incredible!

The weekend was excellent as some friends and I spent Saturday morning doing service, making meals for starving Africans. We had fun together while making a difference. We did not run a meet this week and had another strong week of practice. Overall, it was a brilliant week of community, fun, laughter, and service. 12 days until Conference Meet! 25 days until the Regional Meet!
