Hey there SLIAC fans! My name is Bryan Stanley, and I am a senior right-handed pitcher from Webster University. Sorry it has taken awhile for me to post my first blog, but it has been really busy. Thankfully since I am a senior my class schedule is quite simple, just needing one class the last eight weeks of the term and I will have my Business Management degree with an emphasis in marketing.
Recently, we just got back from Orlando, Florida in which we played 5 games going 3-2. The weather was beautiful until the last two days we were there; we got rained out and lost out on three games. We tried to pass the time by playing card games, our video game systems, eating, watching TV and even going to the movies but nothing passes the time like baseball.
After we got back from Florida on Sunday, we made up two of those games that were cancelled in Florida last Tuesday at DePauw University in Indiana. Once again this was a far travel for us in which all of us missed class for the day. After splitting at DePauw we had to get back to work to prepare for the tournament we were hosting this weekend at GCS. Concordia, North Park and Franklin College all came down to play us.
The weekends become very difficult for me. While going to school and playing baseball, I try to work as many hours as possible at Lenny Sub Shop in Webster Groves and also Morgan Street Brewery in downtown Saint Louis. I try to make as much money as possible when I can to help my parents out with payments for school, books, rent, utilities and fun. I usually end up working approximately 25 plus hours a week between both jobs while practicing, working out and doing homework. It can be very stressful and busy but I wouldn’t have my life any other way. I am the kind of person that always has to be doing something otherwise I get bored very easily. Speaking of work, I have to end this blog due to work but you will be hearing from me soon and hopefully I won’t be as busy. Thanks SLIAC fans and talk to you soon!
