It has been a solid week, but there was not a whole lot going on around campus and in the classroom. Classes are going well, and things are starting to settle down a little academically. I have been getting more homework than normal, though. The cross country team is off to a mediocre start, as we placed 8th at the Wash U Early Bird meet this past Saturday. It will take a focused effort to get back on the right track. We have the talent and chemistry to succeed this year, and the freshmen and new runners are doing an excellent job of stepping in and answering the call.
As for extracurriculars, the Griffin Gang, an organization that I help lead, had a successful first meeting last week in which we discussed ideas and positions for the upcoming year. My goal this year is to increase support of student-athletes for their enjoyment as well as the enjoyment of the supporters. Dance Marathon meetings are beginning as well. I am excited about Dance Marathon, a wonderful event of dancing for twelve hours while raising money and awareness for local children's hospitals. The event will take place in early November.
Anyway, the Labor Day weekend was quite uneventful as I spent some time on homework and spent time with friends. The one highlight was the Greek festival. The food was absolutely amazing, along with the music and atmosphere. Overall, it has been a good week and I am looking forward to the rest of the semester.
