Michael Horn's Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete Blog #2

The last week has been eventful. I had a Student Government Association meeting last Wednesday as the senator of the Biological and Physical Sciences department. We planned some events for the upcoming weeks and discussed modifying the smoking ban on campus. I also had a Dance Marathon meeting in which we discussed this wonderful event that takes place on November 6 this year. We will have two teams this year at Dance Marathon, an event dedicated to raising money for and awareness of children's hospitals throughout the area. I worked six hours last week in the RA office, supervising St. Joseph Hall.

On Thursday night, I attended a prayer night at the Vocation Office at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary. It was informative and reflective as many of us shared our vocation stories and discussed the seminary. Sunday was magnificent with Mass and a family picnic. I was able to see many people I had not seen in a long time. The experience was a great relief from the busy week that had passed. The academic aspect has been going well overall. Classes are becoming more hectic with tests and more homework. I really enjoy my psychology class as well as my physics class. I have two tests this week, on Tuesday and Thursday.

We did not have a cross country meet on Saturday, so the practice week was challenging as we ran lots of miles. The team is coming together gradually and is building a strong unit at the moment. We need to stay focused and work harder than we ever have before if we want to reach our goals this season. We run at Maryville this Saturday in an 8K race. The course is new and I am excited to see how it unfolds!
