Michael Horn's Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete Blog #3

Last week was a challenging one to say the least. I had two tests, one in calculus and the other in plant biology. I will just say that I have scored better on tests in the past. Anyway, school is moving quickly and the semester is becoming more difficult. The practice week for cross country was quite challenging as well. I did two-a-days on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There were some highlights of the week, though. My friends and I went to the Cardinals game on Thursday night and were fortunate enough to see a game in which the struggling Cardinals could put four runs on the board and shut out a powerful Padres line up. The game was a great break from the week. On Saturday, we ran a solid race at the Maryville Invitational, placing third in a race that featured some strong local competetition. The course was the most difficult one I have ever run, with some very steep hills. Personally, I had a top 15 performance and was satisfied. The team ran better as a pack this weekend and grouped well together.

This weekend we head to Memphis for a Saturday twilight meet. It should be a very fun night as well as one that serves as a benchmark for us. It will reveal to us where we stand against Spalding in the conference. An old teammate will be at our meet in Memphis, and I am very excited to see him again. He helped us win conference last season and is truly a great teammate and friend. I miss him a lot. Anyway, this week has been better than last week. Tomorrow, many of us are going to the men's soccer game against Washington University. It should be insane!
