Jamie Hebron's Softball Student-Athlete Blog #3

Hello again! I wasn't sure if I'd be gracing you with my words this week because it's Spring Break, but good old 21st century technology has allowed me to have internet access while on the road. It's been a pretty disappointing week so far. No new games to talk about because they keep getting rained out. This year's Spring Break has been less exciting as previous years, because we have taken some awesome Spring Break trips. Let me give you the abridged version...
Freshman Year: Trip to Arizona where we played in beautiful weather with an amazing mountain view, laid out in the sun almost every day, worked in a food pantry, and played putt-putt golf.
Sophomore Year: Trip to Texas where we also had good warm weather, had dinner with alumni and played Wii.
Junior Year (the best): Trip to California when we met Paris Hilton, went to American Idol, Hollywood Blvd., laid out in the sun, went to Santa Monica Pier (like off RocketPower!), and made/served lunch to homeless people.
Senior Year (This year): Trip to Indiana where all of our games thus far (which is 4) have been rained out, but we have made it fun with several team games, laser tag, cleaning up a local church, and playing basketball and doing crafts at a local boys and girls club.

We are in Louiville, Ky., right now, so hopefully we will get our two games in tomorrow and two games on Wednesday.

Besides softball news, I have some pretty great personal news. I was accepted to the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. This is good and bad news for me: Good news that I have been accepted to the two vet schools I have applied to, but bad news that I now have a serious decision on my hands as to where to spend my next four years. I have also recently been accepted to be an intern in Guatemala helping with a veterinarian and a doctor there. I am very excited.

Wrapping it up, my week has been good because I love hanging out with my softball girls and the family that is traveling with the team, plus no homework, and lots of good news about my future. God is continually filling my life with blessing after blessing.

"If you're not making mistakes, you're not taking risks, and that means you're not going anywhere. The key is to make mistakes faster than the competition, so you have more changes to learn and win."
--John W. Holt, Jr.

Have a blessed week!
J
